Puppy Party!

Well, today our sweet baby dog, Rosie turned one (I guess 7 if you want to say dog years but she really is more human than dog if you ask me). So naturally we had a small birthday party so she could celebrate. My inner sorority girl loves a good theme party so she might be a little spoiled.

We decorated with tennis balls (Rosie's fave apart from frisbees) in tin cans. The dogs loved it!

Here is the birthday girl herself resting up before her guests arrive.

I really wanted Rosie to wear a party hat. It was a struggle.

She kept it on just long enough to get one cute pic!

I made a dog friendly cake and iced it with peanut butter. The recipe can be found here. It was surprisingly a big hit.

Doggie bags for guests to fill with treats to take home with them

We had paw-tato chips

Hot dogs that Jackson grilled on the egg

All sorts of hot dog fixin's

Puppy chow (the amazingly delicious chex mix candy, not actual) and pupcakes

Out in the garage we set up the dogs' food table with Rosie's cake, bones, and treats

And some party hats just in case the dogs were feeling fancy

Rosie kept trying to sneak the bones off the table before the party

And she was successful a couple times...

But when friends came, Rosie was all about playing! Here she is pestering BFF Ryder

Sweet Maggi thinking about getting a tennis ball

Rosie stayed in the pool about half the party

Rocker was all handsome with his new bandana just for the occasion

Ryder and Rosie were both taken with Rosie's new toy

And Hannah was taken with the pupcakes

Time to blow out your candle!

Happy Birthday to Rosie!

Eating their cake. They loved it!

Rosie got the cutest birthday cookie!

All in all it was a really good day. Rosie had so much fun playing with her dog friends and we were lucky that the weather wound up cooperating. I still can't believe my sweet girl is one already. She has brought so much fun (and a little destruction) into our lives. Happy Birthday, Rosie!

Atlanniversary

This past weekend Jackson and I went to Atlanta and stayed at the St Regis in Buckhead to celebrate our first anniversary. Or as I like to call it, our Atlanniversary. We could not have asked for a more fun or more relaxing weekend. As two people who have a hard time relaxing, we did a pretty good job of it for a few days. The drive to Atlanta was pretty quick. After some GPS confusion, we arrived at the St. Regis and were greeted with champagne in the room.

Our room was awesome. There's no other way to describe it. I'm one that finds hotel room pictures a little creepy so I will spare you those and just give some highlights. Here is a picture of the magical phone that controlled everything. We could turn off every light with the touch of a button. I pretty much need one for our house. Not to mention it called directly to people waiting to do whatever we might request. Magic.

Another (not pictured) favorite was the mirror in the bathroom that looked like a mirror until you turned on the tv. How do they come up with this stuff?

Friday night we walk .5 seconds away to Chops for dinner. After a delicious meal of steak, mashed potatoes, and fried lobster tail, our waiter brought out a free anniversary bread pudding. We felt so special and it was so good!

After dinner we went back to the hotel and watched the Braves game at the hotel bar.

At 6:00 pm each evening, the St Regis does a champagne sabering to transition from day to night. The champagne used is the brand they served on the Titanic to pay tribute to John Jacob Astor VI, the founder of the St. Regis, who died on the ship. Jackson wants to start doing this when we have parties. I see that going south pretty quickly.

Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast in the room. After that we headed outside to the beautiful pool where we camped out all day. We tried almost every special pool drink they had including the "West Paces Mary." St. Regis hotels each make their own version of a bloody mary and this one is delicious.

Saturday night we went to an Italian restaurant, Portofino's. They gave us an anniversary champagne toast and then we ate in true Italian form. We spent the night remembering our honeymoon in Italy and wishing that we could be back there!

Sunday was out actual anniversary. To celebrate, we did something Jackson and i both LOVE. Went to a Braves game! We keep up with the games at home and watch most of them on TV but there's nothing like being there! The game was exciting  and we pulled the Braves through in the end. Chop chop!

Before the game

Not much more beautiful than Turner Field

Freddie Freeman hit a homerun that they made a terrible call on and only gave him a double. However, it scored 2 runs and clinched the game!

Paper presents for first anniversary

Post its I put on the mirrors the morning of our anniversary with memories of our last year

The portrait the lovely Barbara Dawson painted of our first born, Rosie that I gave to Jackson for his "paper" gift.

I'm pretty sure we outdid ourselves for first year anniversary celebrations and won't be able to live up in the future. But hey, the first one only comes around once!
